Parents can be very helpful sources of information and support when it comes to untangling relationships and sex.
Believe it or not, parents were all children once, then became teenagers and have fairly recently become the people that have that title of ‘parent’. Parents have hormones and have experienced at some stage in their life similar emotions and feelings to that of children. Sometimes it may seem like they have no idea what it is like to be a teenager and may need to be reminded from time to time.
Parents want to protect those we love from hurt and upset but ‘you can’t put an old head on young shoulders’ and sometimes we learn by experience. All parents can do is try to advise, accept that we cannot completely protect our children from hurt and upset but we can be there when we are needed to help them to recover both emotionally and physically.
